Bedford Channel Society provides for you!

1. The Athlete Training Centre, located in the west end of the pub building, is available for use by all bona fide members of the Rowing and Canoeing clubs that make up BCS.
Visitors are not permitted without the express permission of BCS.
Check the ATC Calendar on the website –     www.bedfordchannelboathouses.ca
– and click the link to request a reservation.

The following is a partial list of equipment to enhance your rowing and paddling skills!

- free weights
- bench press
- pull press
- paddling and rowing ergs (training required prior to use)
- skipping ropes and exercise bands
- pull-up bar
- Bosa and Swiss balls
- TRXs
- floor exercise space and mats
- showers and change area

Although it is always hoped that different User Groups and/or teams can share the ATC, BCS has recognised the need to allocate specific slots in the busiest times. BCS will always follow the order of priority set down by the Township of Langley for its allocation of its resources.

The ATC is also equipped with tables and chairs and may be requested for team and club meetings (although training takes priority). BCS has installed a television to which tablets and PCs can be connected for the review of training videos, etc.

In addition, the ATC provides limited office space for User Groups.

2. Basement storage and repair
Each User Group has been allocated a lockable storage cage in the basement below the ATC.
The common areas of the basement provide:

- a boat repair area, in the open space in front of User Group storage. This is for boats undergoing current repairs/painting, etc. This is NOT a boat storage area.
- a store for buoys, located in the gravelled, low-height area beneath the upper boat store
- a store for 3 giant, hi-vis race buoys – complete with high-volume pump & anchor lines

These are available for any User Group. Just ask for directions if you’re a first-time user.

3. Gas storage cage
Located beneath the Paddlesport ramp, the secure cage is equipped with job boxes for each User Group.  All gas cans must be stored in a job box. The job boxes may be locked by the User Group, but BCS is to be provided with the combination number or a copy of the key. Nothing else is to be left in this cage.

4. Boathouses
The boathouses are equipped with racking for the storage of rowing and paddling boats. Modifications to these may only be made with the express permission of BCS.

5. On-land storage
The caged area behind the ATC and facing the car park is equipped with racking suitable for both rowing and paddling boats.
Boats and other equipment must not be stored on the floor of this shared area.

6. AEDs
BCS provides two Automatic External Defibrillators. One is located in the ATC, and the other on the FLCC Canoe Dock (where all the dragon boats hang out!). They may be used by anyone in a suitable emergency.

7. BCS is also your liaison with the Township of Langley, in respect of:

- the maintenance and operations of the above facilities and the surrounding areas
- improving the public awareness of the need for safety on the river, particularly with regard to excess boat speed and dangerous behaviour on the river.

The Directors of BCS are drawn from the Rowing and Paddling Community and would welcome suggestions for the improvement of any facility and/or its maintenance.
